Price Methodology

Understand how we calculate and track card prices on CardForum.

Data Sources

Our pricing data is sourced from CardMarket, one of the largest European trading card marketplaces. We collect listing data multiple times per day to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Data Filtering

Raw listing data goes through several filtering stages to ensure quality:

  • Removal of outlier prices (extremely high or low listings)
  • Filtering of damaged or incomplete listings
  • Exclusion of pre-sale and pre-order listings
  • Minimum listing quantity requirements

Price Calculations

We calculate several price metrics for each card variant:

Market Price

A weighted average of recent sales and current listings, designed to represent the fair market value of a card.

P10 (10th Percentile)

The price below which 10% of listings fall. Useful for finding deals.

Median

The middle price when all listings are sorted. Less affected by outliers.

P75 (75th Percentile)

The price below which 75% of listings fall. Indicates the upper market range.

Update Frequency

Prices are updated daily. High-volume cards may be updated more frequently. Historical price data is retained indefinitely to provide long-term trends and analysis.
